Universal Studios - Halloween Horror Nights 25 Review
Since I have moved to Florida, I have been to Universal Halloween Horror nights every year.
At first I didn't think I would like it as I am not a horror movie lover. I watch them only when someone insists we do and I keep a blanket to hid underneath just in case. However after the first year, I have been fascinated with it.
This year is 25 years bring back a manic clown, Jack from previous years. (An icon before my time). Universal Studios have 9 houses this year. Let us review them counting clock way from front of the park.
Jack Presents: 25 Years of Monsters and Mayhem
This house took some of the best scenes and scares from previous years and created a house. Though I am still very new to Horror nights, I recognized some of the scenes. Plot wise the story doesn't make sense to the average person. However, it is full of scares. Plus it is fun to remember past houses.
An American Werewolf in London
This is the first time in the history of Horror nights they brought back an old house. Two years ago, An American Werewolf in London debuted and I loved it. If you haven't seen the first version, you'll probably be impressed with the puppets and effects. However, this year I felt like I knew what was coming. Nothing special.
Freddy vs Jason
I love Jason. I hate Freddy. I hated the movie Freddy vs. Jason. The house is the two separate stories combine and then at the very end come together to fight as in the movie. I enjoyed the scares. One of my favorites this year.
Body Collectors-Recollections
This is alot of people's favorite houses. One scene is incredible if the right scare actors are there. However, the theme has been done before. Nothing stands out for me due to the unoriginal concept.
Run: Blood, Sweat, and Fears
If it wasn't a house with no line, I wouldn't go to this house every night. The house had an interesting idea based on the running man. I enjoy the theme park jokes references. Again nothing special.
Insidious
The most popular house this year with wait times over 2 hours. Though I haven't seen the movie, the house expands all three movies. It has my favorite exterior building. The scares are great and a little interactive. Interesting effects throughout the house
Purge
One of my least favorite houses. Originally rumored to be Scream, the purge was added about a month before the Team Previews. You can tell it was thrown together and had a little bit of a scream theme left.
The Walking Dead: The Living and the Dead
If you love the show, it is probably a great house. If you don't, it is overdone. This is the fourth year that Walking dead has been a house and I hope the last. The first time I walked through it was too dark. Now it is just zombies staring at me as I move pass.
Asylum in Wonderland 3D
Not a fan of most 3D houses. However this one is different. 8 love all the effects. The only bad thing is you can tell where they ran out of budget with store brought masks and a few bad costume. If this house had a bigger budget, probably be one of favorites.
My favorites: 25 years, Freddy Vs. Jason and Bodies. Alice is a close 4th.
