Exploring Table Mountain

I have always loved Scenic views in new cities. Getting a bird's eye view of a new city always leaves me holding my breath. I never believe I am in the current location with a statuary view. One of these moments was at Table Mountain.

Table Mountain is located in Cape Town, South Africa. This mountain is flat top a mountain rising 3500 feet in the distance above Cape Town. Sometimes it is known as

Our group arrived in the late morning to take in the views Table Mountain offers. Though some of us wanted to hike up the mountain, we decided the group of 25 of us should take the Cableway up. Since the Cableway holds roughly about 25 people, our group got a car to ourselves!

This Cableway was different than any other cable cars I had been on as it rotates as you climb up the mountain. This gives everyone the opportunity of everyone to get the wonderful views it has to offer. It adds a thrill as you are getting higher you are slowly moving a circle.

Reaching the top after the 6 minute ride, we exited the Cableway to a breathtaking view. Luckily for us the clouds weren't too low though at some angles the clouds were blocking part of the view. One side is the Seaport and the other was mountains and coastline.

The paths are rocky and uneven, so wear good shoes. Also, make sure you take a jacket as weather and wind dramatically changed from the bottom to the top. The Cable cars do close in high winds which is a frequent occasion. We spent about 30 minutes up there exploring the top and walking some of the hiking paths that lead to more gorgeous views.

If I ever get a chance to go back to South Africa, I would love to rock climb down the mountain backwards or even try going up Platteklip Gorge, the most direct path. And see the stunning views again!
